Instructions and Acknoledgements

About this site:

BrainStorm is an interactive program for learning Neuroanatomy. Previous CD versions of this program have been available for many years. The web- based version BrainStorm is the final stages of its development and we are beta testing it with ANAT3411 students in 2014.

If you encounter any problems with the interface or the operation of BrainStorm in general please notify the programmer, Peter Ashwell (peter.w.ashwell@gmail) with a copy to Dr Tancred (e.tancred@unsw.edu.au)

We welcome your feedback so if you have any comments or suggestions regarding the content please email them to Dr Tancred (address above) with a copy to Vannessa Leung (vannessa.leung@gmail.com) Thankyou.

Instructions:

BrainStorm is a comprehensive atlas of human neuroanatomical structures including images of gross dissections, myelin stained cross-sections and MR images supported by diagrams and text screens. Start by selecting what type of image you wish to view from the introduction screen. A drop down list of available menus and submenus will appear on the left side of the screen.

It is possible to view different representations (Cross-section, Gross dissection or Diagram) of selected structures using the icons on the right above the structures list.

In cross-section images selected structures can be followed through consecutive sections using the arrows in the navigator box in the upper right of the screen. In some cases it is possible to toggle between a myelin-stained cross-section and a similar MRI.

If you want to find a specific structure, use the search feature, which will give you the option of viewing the structure of interest in a gross, cross-section or diagram image or text screen.
